My first layered wood design. I used my own bike as a template and went from there. This is the second or third version, improving it each time.

This design contains small and fragile parts, paint with care.

  • Dimensions: 29cm x 19.3cm (11 3/8" x 7 9/16")

    Material: 3mm (1/8") MDF

    Layers: 6

    Tools/Equipment Required:
     - Paint - Acrylic works well, but that's all up to what you like to use.

     - Glue - Elmers Glue-All is what I have been using with great results,  but most general purpose or wood glues should work.

    Instructions:

    Painting:
The layers should be ready to paint, you can add a base coat if you'd like though.
Paint the layers in whatever creative way you want. Be sure to check and see what is covered by the layers above, there's no need to paint where it won't be seen. I would recommend not painting the edges below the top layer so the glue can work best.

    Gluing:
To glue them together, I recommend doing two layers at a time, like layers 1 and 2, then 3 and 4, then 5 and 6. then gluing them together after they dry for a bit. It's much easier to manage than dealing with all 6 layers at once.
After I apply the glue, I stand them up and use a flat surface to get the bottom edge as even as possible.
